Mrs. Virginia “Jean” Burris, 85, of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away at 2:20 A.M., Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentucky.

She was born March 30, 1924 in Belton, KY to the late James Bedford Oldham and Ruth Caroline Epley Oldham. She is also preceded in death her husband, William Curtis Burris, five brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Burris was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing at the American Legion and Madisonville Shrine.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Faye Burris of Madisonville; two sons, Richard Burris and Paul Burris, both of Madisonville; one sister, Mary Helen Martin of Cadiz, KY; five grandchildren, Denise Wilson of Cadiz, Joey Buchanan, Steven Buchanan, Jesse Burris and Chris Burris, all of Madisonville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Jesse Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Blackford, KY.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday and after Noon on Sunday at the funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joey Buchanan, Steven Buchanan, Mike Buchanan, Chris Burris, Jesse Burris and Mike Gifford.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donation to the Shriner’s Children Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
