Meteorologist Wayne Hart Visits Southside

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY – The Club Southside Preschool/Daycare center and Southside Elementary School were honored to have channel 25’s famed meteorologist Wayne Hart pay a visit today to speak with students.

Hart first visited Club Southside where he spoke to a group of 13 kids, 3 to 5-year-olds, about the weather. Hart pointed out to a very excited crowd of children that the “bad” seasons weren’t necessarily bad at all, and were needed to keep the environment in good shape. Hart took time to answer questions from each child.

Shortly thereafter, Hart moved next door to Southside Elementary School where he spoke before a crowd of over fifty 4th graders. In this presentation, Hart taught the kids a lot about what it takes to become a meteorologist and about weather in general. He accented the point of the importance of not only going to school and graduating, but making good grades along the way and getting a good solid college education.

Both teachers and students alike were thrilled to have Hart visit the school and daycare, the second time in his career that he has done so. Some film footage was taken for showing on Channel 25 Weather tonight, March 10.

Wreck on Highway 70 West at County Line

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY – iSurf News was on the scene this morning as the remains of a smashed RJ Temper company truck was being pulled from the ditch beside Highway 70 West. The timing of the incident has not been released. The wreck took place at mile marker 1 on the Muhlenberg side of the Hopkins/Muhlenberg County line.

According to police officials on the scene, the truck had accidentally dropped off the shoulder of the road. The driver was apparently unable to get the vehicle back on the road and the vehicle flipped over.

The officer on the scene at the time of reporter’s arrival was Eddie Brown. Brown was not on the scene originally, but had taken over for Officer Tommy Nance who had another appointment shortly after entering the scene of the accident.

According to Brown, he did not believe that the driver of the vehicle was injured, but had left to go to the hospital just in case. Traffic was stopped in one lane for roughly two hours.
