Fire Dept Responds To Trash Fire At Sanitation Dept

Madisonville, KY - Madisonville Fire responded to a Trash Container on fire at the Sanitation Deptartment Saturday. When fire crews arrived they found a large amount of debris burning in the lot on the west side of the building.

Crews used a firefighting foam system, which bought fire under control. Overhaul was preformed and all hot spots extinguished. Upon further investigation it was found that the fire had originally started in a container attached to a compactor unit inside the building. Sanitation personnel were able to move container outside before fire crews arrived.

The Fire Department also responded to a possible brush fire that was out of control at 714 Brown Road. The arriving fire crew found a burned area in a field and learned that several neighborhood residents had noticed the smoke and extinguished the fire with garden hoses. Fire crews extinguished remaining hotspots and soaked the perimeter of the burned area. Cause of ignition could not be determined and there were no witnesses to the start of the fire.

Press Release from the Madisonville Fire Department.
