Hopkins County, KY – Motorists traveling on the Pennyrile Parkway next week should be aware of work taking place by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
A Contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to start the clearing and chipping of brush along the right of way of the Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway in Henderson and Webster Counties. This extended brush clearing work is to help improve the safety of motorists by providing better visibility of deer and other wildlife attempting to cross the roadway. Work should start along the right of way in the Robards and Sebree areas as soon as weather allows and initially move southward along the southbound lanes.
This work will require shoulder closures and occasional lane closures due to geometrics of the roadside. The lane configuration may change on a daily basis as the work requires over several months. This work will eventually involve the crew covering all of the Pennyrile Parkway from the Webster-Hopkins County line at the 55 mile marker to the end of the parkway near the edge of Henderson at the 78 mile marker.
Motorists who regularly travel the Pennyrile Parkway through Henderson and Webster Counties should be aware of this moving work zone and be alert for shoulder and lane closures as the crew goes about their work. This work is expected to continue through most of the winter months whenever weather allows.
Motorists are advised to use appropriate caution whenever they encounter this moving work zone where equipment, flaggers, and personnel may be in close proximity to traffic flow.
